Up Hemlock

This Saturday we enjoyed a perfect fall day for running, if not the 3.5mile up Hemlock course. Winners were Jeff Sheldon in 21:50 and Theresa Krebs in 23:54.

Welcome back to Dawn who was visiting, and impressively running, this weekend. She claims she'll be back for Thanksgiving with her boyfriend in tow. High alert holiday weekend! Welcome to Steve, a longtime reader but first time Roxbury runner. He even brought friends and family. Hope to see you again, Steve.

Being the first Saturday of the month, let's highlight runner safety for a minute. When you hear "car up/back" it means move to the side of the road. It does not mean cluster up and run three across instead of five across. Nor does it mean that someone is trying to trick you by falsely suggesting a car's presence (unless its Paul, in which case you should know better by now.) When you hear both "Car up" and "Car back" it means there are cars both in front and behind you, either waiting for you to move so they can pass or imminently striking you down.

Props to Chris for his head to toe coordinated outfit. Impressive, stylish, but not too matchy-matchy. Demerits to Eric for the arm warmers--were we even at the same race? It wasn't cold! Even if it were, what do you have against sleeves? We can only assume that some of Bill's princessy tendencies are contagious.

Congratulations to our More Cowbell team at the Adirondacks Ragnar relay, placing 1st among masters ultra teams, 2nd ultra team overall, and 1st in logoed apparel and accessories.

Next week we run the legendary 11.2 mile Botsford Hill course or the 3.95 mile Jeep Trail alternate. Sheldon is talking a big game and allegedly will come dressed to kill in compression socks, arm warmers, a beanie, and a Speedo. You heard it here first. See you there!
