Race Report by Mary Schafer

A rainy Saturday greeted us for the running of the 4.5 mile up Chalybes and down Hemlock course. When combined with the plethora of other running events this weekend likely explains the relatively small turnout. "Don't worry, the rain is stopping now," declared Ross at 8:31 am as we approached the starting line. "I'm an amateur meteorologist," he continued. Which at last explains the Doppler radar atop of the LevyMobile. That it didn't stop raining until 12:30 explains the "amateur" portion of the statement. Victors this week were Mark Andrejczyk in 27:38 and Theresa Krebs in 30:02.

Nice work to Mark who ran a speedy race just one week post his 50 miler. Also nice work on the nearly Vanderheiden-ian three wardrobe changes. After seeing Izzy's picture from the Twilight kids' race, we declare Team LoSacco the best dressed in Roxbury. And speaking of the Ninja, it was nice to see Mrs and Jr Ninja in attendance, if not running. Let's also award Michelle for being nearly Sandiferian in her bright pink and yellow, mesh and lycra shorts. They are the ideal antidote to a gray and rainy day. Overheard on the racecourse: "June is Dog Month? I guess that explains why I feel like woof." Moments later, when stepping over particularly mangled former raccoon, "That's how I feel. When is Roadkill Month?"

Thanks to Bob for setting up the course and to Harry and Corrine for the expert stopwatch/popsicle stick operation. Congratulations to all our runners who competed at other events this weekend, specifically the Twilight 5k and kids race, the junior high (?) track meet, and the Quassy triathlon on Sunday.

Next week we run the 6.6 mile Judd's Bridge and Sentry Hill. See you then!
