The Roxbury Mile I

Race Report by Mary Schafer

Team Levy won the day and crushed other families for Roxbury Race domination. (Sorry McNultys and McCulloughs.) As if running us all down wasn't enough, they also brought additional, possibly former, members of the Conrnell track team. Thanks to Pere Levy for the clarification as some of us see "Go Big Red" and immediately think Huskers. Let's just say you're all lucky The Ninja wasn't here to argue the finer points of red-wearing fandom.

Sheldon couldn't decide of he wanted to race the Cornell ladies or chat them up. Unfortunately in both cases this indecision created a gap he couldn't close.

Big thanks to all the race volunteers: Bob for setting up the course, Larry for the course description (including map, water stops, and time limits), Harry the race photographer, and our finish line crew of Chris, Corrine, Senor Davis, and Eric's Mom. Overheard at the finish line, "Scott's fast!" That's right. And he's gunning for most improved, so speed up or get out of the way. Nice to see Rosie out representing Team Ong.

Congratulations to The Ninja and CowBell on their respective finishes at the Pineland Farm 50-miler this weekend. And thanks for making the rest of us look normal by comparison. We'll see you next week for the 4.5 mile Up Chalybes Down Hemlock course.

Ragnar Relay Cape Cod Report by Theresa Krebs

Our team "Hill's Angels" finished 2nd in the women's open division with a time of 23:54:47. This was 47th overall out of 365 teams. We ran our best despite a few mishaps during the evening runs... for example lost runners and wrong turns, running past exchange spots, running back to replace a blinking red light that fell off near the start... we finished strong! Some of our runners ran on varied terrain ...soft sandy beaches and bike paths. The scenery was beautiful and I would definitely recommend this relay run for the "Bucket List"!
