Race Report by Mary Schafer

A chilly, wintery mix-y Saturday morning a mere 24 hours before two big local races produced the smallest batch of Roxbury runners year to date. All the same, 50 brave souls braved the weather, the unrelenting Ranney hill, and the rest of the 3.7 mile course. Our winners were Desmond "Happy Ever After" O'Grady in 20:51 and local leading lady Theresa Krebs in 24:22. Good to see Brian and Mark back running with us, even after their 17 mile "warm up" though we are concerned that Brian's kung fu skills may be in need of honing when he arrived at the starting line bloodied. Chris Norris will have you know that he reserves the right to roundhouse kicks during the race, but before or after is a free for all. (Chris Norris does not get frostbite. Chris Norris bites frost.)

Good luck to Stosh and Kateri this week in track team tryouts. We're pretty sure the rest of the team will left eating dust (and arm warmers, if we're lucky) and wondering what happened.

Blind item: which Roxy runner, who hasn't raced this season, was seen dining a Washington hotspot?

Please find below a scene from a script in development for stage or screen: Setting: a comfortable living room with running shoes scattered about. Eric is online, Krystal is doing something useful.

Eric: I'm going to run the Danbury Half!
Krystal: No you're not.
E: Yes, I AM.
K: No. You can't.
E: I can.
K: You can't.
E: I can and you can't stop me.
K: You can't and that's the end of it.
E: I can and I WILL. You are not the boss of me!
K: You've already signed up for another race at the same time on the same day. So unless you, like Schrodinger's Cat, can be in both places at the same time, you can't run the Danbury Half.
E: Oh.
K: And I'm your wife. I am so the boss of you.

With that, congratulations to all our runners in both the Danbury Half and the Bimbler's Bash 10K. Results are here: http://www.jbsports.com/?page_id=24 and here: http://mrbimble.com/WordPress/2012/04/bimblers-bash-results-2012/ Congratulations to LeeAnne who completed the Garden Village Spot Marathon on Saturday! http://www.gardenspotvillagemarathon.org/

Next week, we'll rendezvous to run the popular Jeep Trail course. See you then!
