Race Report by Mary Schafer

Last Race Report--Ever.

Saturday, May 21st 2012 = End of Days! At Roxbury Races, many of us wondering why the End wasn't nearer, especially to the finish of the 4.8 mile Judd's Bridge short course. The winners this week were Alejandro (I'm not your babe, I'm not your babe, Alejandro. Ale-Ale-jan-dro!) Abella in 29:06 and Theresa Krebs in 33.43. The approaching apocalypse did produce a surfeit of shirtless runners. "I wanted to feel the wind in my (chest) hair," said John, who left his dryfit in the car. Dirk intended to outrun the Four Horsemen of the apocolypse, despite being just one week off his first marathon. "I may regret this, if the world doesn't end tonight," he said, "but I'll take my chances." Always fun to see Marge who noted, "After the purgatory of running up Judd's Bridge, I have to insist on being Raptured later today." A Masochist sister was seen on the course, who not surprisingly prefers the fire and brimstone of Judgement Day. Welcome back to Michelle who has nicely recovered from her dog bite and the bitter winter. "If the world ends tonight, I'd like to fit in my skinny jeans." Paul took an opposite approach, "I gave up sweets for Lent, lot of good that did me. Please pass the cinnamon rolls." Nate opted to skip the Rapture, preferring a Napture instead. Emily looked great in all black, "My outfit is inspired by Revalations," she says.

At the end of the race, Bob thanked everyone for attending, noting, "That's a wrapture for this week." Provided the world still exists next Saturday, we'll see you at 8:30 am for the First Roxbury Mile of the year.
